When you walk into the Jackson Rancheria Casino, one of the most unique and remarkable collages in mixed-media can be found near Margaret’s Café. The Rancheria commissioned Anje Olmstead to do a 9 foot by 8 foot likeness of Margaret Dalton, the Miwuk Indian who pioneered the Rancheria. In Margaret's honor, Anje gathered all the background information and pictures to formulate the image of her portrait and of her history.
Within the short time Anje has lived in Amador County, she became one of the most recognized and sought after artists the county has had in recent years. Selling almost every piece she creates, she is constantly at work imagining new pieces filled with her wit and whimsy offering a presentation that makes the eyes smile. The viewer should always look closely for some of her hidden messages and objects. One never knows what might be intermingled into the visual playground.
Proof of her innate talent, and the appreciation of it, are the many awards she has accumulated. Among them are Best in Show, First Place, and many others in the Amador County Fair, and elsewhere. She has been featured on local television, radio, magazines, and teaches classes in paper collage and other mediums regularly. Check the “Events” page to keep up to date with her shows and classes.
Currently, some of her work is shown at Andis Wines in Shenandoah Valley. At this location she teaches paper collage and tile mosaics.
Her work in progress is a series of tile mosaic pieces where she is featured with her cat, “Ricky Bobbie”, touring the world. Presently the series consists of “In Dreams of Ricky Bobbie and Me in China”. She also takes Ricky Bobbie to the Cayman Islands, Egypt, and Turkey as featured on the “Mosaics” page. Future adventures of Anje and Ricky Bobbie will be Rio and Guatemala. Her Mosaic piece "My Dreams of Ricky Bobbie and Me in the Cayman Islands" was juried and chosen for inclusion by Fusion Art in their 2019 Online Juried Art Exhibition.
Anje started this imaginary tour alone in Hungary without Ricky Bobbie. From Hungary she was joined by Ricky Bobbie and others.

Among her other mediums are three dimensional mixed media, watercolor, acrylic, pen and ink, and fiber art.
One never knows what Anje might delight us with next. Keep up to date and visit this website when you want to see her current collections, or attend one of her events.
